Move a reference between applications

A common pattern is to read a ticket or invoice reference from one application, check the captured value and type it into a field in another application.

Use OCR Capture on a tight region and save the result to a variable. Confirm the destination window and field before typing. Test similar-looking characters and empty fields with sample data before using real records.

Let a status change the next step

A known warning can lead to a branch or a stop. A numeric value can be checked against a configured threshold. Choose the condition that represents the actual rule, then test examples on each side of it.

OCR-based Abort conditions monitor a configured region and stop the scenario when the rule matches. A separate conditional branch can perform configured alerting. Do not assume a later action will execute after a stop.

Validate the read before acting on it

OCR reads pixels; it can misread or return no useful value. Treat that as a workflow outcome to handle.

  • Keep the capture region free of neighbouring labels and unrelated values.
  • Check fonts, contrast, scale, decimal separators and currency formatting.
  • Define a review or stop path for an unexpected result.
  • Verify the destination result after entering the captured value.
