Three ways to use what you read

Choose the OCR operation that matches the job. Reading a value, clicking a label and monitoring a stop condition serve different purposes.

  • OCR Capture reads text, numbers or both into variables for later actions.
  • OCR Click searches a region for matching text or a number condition and clicks the match.
  • OCR conditions can guide a branch or stop a scenario when a configured text or number rule is met.

Carry a value into the next step

For example, capture a ticket reference from a desktop application, check the result, focus the destination field and type the value there. Keep the original screen available while testing so you can compare the read value with its source.

Scenario triggers in TriggerFlow use image matching. OCR Capture, OCR Click and OCR-based conditions are separate parts of the workflow; they should not be confused with an OCR scenario trigger.

Give OCR a clear view

Use a small region around the value, legible text and good contrast. Check punctuation, decimal separators and similar characters such as O and 0. Currency parsing is available for money-like values where appropriate.

An empty or unexpected read needs a deliberate outcome. Verify the capture before using it in an important action, and test against the actual fonts, window size and display scale you will run.
